We have a couple of things to let you know about this month (no departures or arrivals, don’t worry!). This newsletter covers our practitioner hours and an intro to myotherapy.
Practitioner hours
As the year gets away from us, we thought we’d refresh everyone’s minds about the hours our practitioners work and who is available for what—allowing you to best align your needs with what is available to you.
Be sure to book in with your practitioner before they fill up at the end of the year!

Myotherapy
Recently, we’ve had some questions regarding our myotherapist Arthur, and what he actually does, and why we think patients would benefit from an appointment with him.

So, what is myotherapy?
Myotherapy, or ‘myo’, is a practice of manual therapy which focusses on assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions. It can be used for pain, mobility, posture, sporting and work injuries, as well as general aches and pains. The myotherapists and physiotherapists at Northside Physio aim to work together by complementing one another’s treatments.
What’s the difference between myotherapy and massage therapy?
Myotherapists complete a 12-month Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy at university on top of a Diploma of Remedial Massage. Myotherapy treatment tools include massage, trigger-point therapy, dry needling, cupping, myofascial work and rehabilitation. It’s much more than just a massage.

Is Myotherapy claimable with Private Health Insurance?
Myotherapy can be claimed under health insurance extras cover—but it’s best to check your own policy for item codes 105 and 205.
If this sounds interesting to you, or you have any further questions, please feel free to give us a call, chat to us in-clinic or make a booking online with Arthur to try out myotherapy!
